Security and Compliance

We take security and compliance seriously.

In addition to offering you complete ownership of your data, Brij is SOC 2 compliant, built to support your GDPR and CCPA obligations, and designed so a shopper's consent choice decides where their data goes.

HOW IT WORKS

Security, consent, and data
ownership with Brij

Learn how Brij handles infrastructure security, what governs an outbound data send,
and who actually owns the data captured and stored.

01

Ownership: you always own your own data.

You control the data capture configuration, you own the output, and you can export your data at any time. And when data is sent beyond Brij, like to ad platforms via Brij Signal, personal identifiers like email and phone are hashed with SHA-256 before transit.

02

Consent: your consent choice decides what sends.

Brij only sends data when it has a recorded consent signal for the categories a given destination requires. Brij reads consent from standard platforms including OneTrust, Cookiebot, and Shopify's customer privacy API, honors all four Google Consent Mode v2 parameters, and applies them per destination.

03

Security: independently audited, and continuously monitored.

Brij is SOC 2  compliant. All buyer data is encrypted with daily backups, and multi-zone replication. Brij operates no on-premise servers.
Data access is restricted and governed by role-based permissions on a least-privilege basis and regularly reviewed.

On the monitoring side, Brij runs continuous control monitoring, intrusion detection, regular vulnerability scans, and more.

OUR SECURITY MODEL

Brij is your service provider,
not a data broker.

Brij does:

Brij is a processor. Under our Data Processing Agreement, we process your buyer data only on your instructions and only to deliver the service. Your data is segregated from every other tenant, exportable by you at any time, and deleted on request. We never combine it with data from other sources, and we never use it for our own advertising or commercial purposes.

Brij does not:

Brij does not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA and CPRA. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising on our own behalf, and we receive no monetary or other valuable consideration in exchange for your data.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What privacy, legal, and IT teams ask before onboarding Brij.

Is Brij Soc 2 compliant?
Yes, Brij is Soc 2 Type I compliant. A type 1 audit report can be provided upon request. We are tracking to complete Type II by 2027.
Which security and compliance documents can Brij share today?
Our full privacy policy, list of sub-processors, and cookie policy are available in the Brij Privacy Center at brij.ai/privacy-center.

Our SOC 2 Type I report, Data Processing Agreement, our documented internal data deletion process, and a security architecture overview (included in the SOC 2 report), are all available on request.
Does the data Brij collects count as a sale or share under CCPA and CPRA?
No. Brij acts as a service provider and processor, and under our DPA, customer data is processed solely to provide the Brij service. Brij does not sell personal information, does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and does not receive or disclose it in exchange for monetary or other valuable consideration.
What consent mechanism runs on Brij-hosted pages, and does it block tracking before consent?
By default, Brij pages load only functional cookies, so there is nothing to gate. If you add your own GTM scripts to a Brij experience, we recommend running your own cookie banner so consent stays consistent with the rest of your stack. We also offer a built-in banner you can enable, and you can customize the consent language or add an explicit consent checkbox at signup.
What cookies does Brij set, and how long do they last?
What cookies does Brij set, and how long do they last? By default, only the first-party functional cookies the experience needs. A session identifier for actions within a session and approximate location (country or region) for localization and fraud prevention, both expiring at the end of the session, plus a device identifier to distinguish new from returning visitors, expiring after up to 400 days or when the visitor clears their cookies. Server-side records are retained only as long as necessary for legitimate business purposes.
What data does Brij collect?
It depends on how your brand configures the experience. Categories can include contact information (name, email, phone), experience data (form responses, registrations, warranty and rebate submissions, receipt uploads, survey responses), device metadata (scan timestamps, IP address, device and browser type), and purchase verification data such as receipts. You control the configuration and the data is exportable by your brand.
Who is responsible for compliance, Brij or my brand?
Ultimately, your brand. Brij gives you the tooling for a compliant setup: consent-gated sending per destination, compatibility with standard consent management platforms and Google Consent Mode, and hashed match data. Whether your cookie banner, privacy policy, and opt-out flow actually meet CCPA, CIPA, GDPR, or any other applicable requirement is a determination for you and your own legal counsel. Nothing on this page is legal advice.
